... always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you...
The "Apologetics" class begins with an in-depth study of Genesis 1-11 and continues with a study of the various attacks by skeptics on the Bible and on Christians and how to counter these attacks. Particular emphasis is given to claimed contradictions in the Bible and such false claims as the Bible supports slavery and racism. Taken from the Greek root word "apologia", an apology is a justification or defense of an act or idea. Apologetics is the systematic defense of a position. Christian apologetics is the defense of Christianity.
A course in how to communicate with God, including:
This is not a Bible study course. It is a course on how to study the Bible and how to use the many different kinds of reference tools that are available to help you study the Bible such as the Greek Lexicon, concordances, Marginal Reference Study Bibles, Chain Reference Bibles, Interlinear New Testament and more. Topics to be discussed include Koine Greek and how the original Greek differs from English translations, the differences between and limitations of Analytical and Interpretive Bible Study Tools, use of a topical Bible and much more.
The "Bible Background" class quickly covers the entire Bible. It does not attempt to cover any book or doctrine in depth but shows that the entire Bible is one comprehensive, intertwined account and not a collection of 66 separate books. There is an emphasis on methods of interpreting the Bible, the nature of God, and the cultural background of the times in which the Bible was given. These help us understand the message of God's Word for us in today's culture.
